The purpose of this revised edition of Methods and Materials for Teaching the Gifted is to give updated strategies and resources for differentiating the instruction of gifted learners. Although there is general agreement in the field of gifted education as to the need to modify regular instruction to address the unique characteristics and behaviors of gifted learners more appropriately, the original edition of this book was one of the first to focus on specific ways differen¬tiation can be accomplished. Methods were given for developing appropriate learning environments, blending advanced content with instructional processes, and selecting products that match the needs of this population of students.
